Surgery & Wound Care

surgery hospitalization and wound care

There are a lot of things to think about when preparing for major surgery. Although every surgical recovery is different, the goals of home-based clinical care post-surgery include patient and family involvement, shared decision-making, and flexibility around changes in plans to meet your needs.

Also, it’s not always possible to schedule your surgery in advance. You should take steps to understand beforehand how long your recovery may take, what you will and will not be able to do, and what help you will need while you are home.

Home health care is personalized to fit the needs of your home and personal preferences, based on a physician’s instructions. Within 24 hours, PEKO can have the post-operative home health care services you need available in your home.

Diabetic & Other Medication Management

We provide well-coordinated and comprehensive medical care to individuals in the comforts of their home. Our highly skilled healthcare professionals manage every aspect of patients’ health-related needs.

There are many technologies available which can help keep track of the elderly, make sure that they are moving around and thus safe and are taking their medications. For example there are GPS trackers and medicine boxes that light up when medicines need to be taken. This helps allow them to stay in their homes for longer.

You can also make the home safer by installing anti-scald devices to protect sensitive older skin, carbon monoxide detectors, special smoke detectors with strobe lights or vibration to wake up the elderly (many elderly cannot hear conventional smoke detectors) and grab bars in showers and near toilets.

Live-in Home Care

Lifestyle changes and capabilities can shift suddenly due to sickness or injury.

For instance, each year millions of older people — those 65 and older — fall. In fact, one out of three older people fall each year (with an estimated 2.5 million requiring some form of hospitalization), and falling once doubles your chances of falling again. Falls can cause broken bones in the wrist, arm, ankle, hip fractures, and even head injuries. These injuries can make it hard for a person to get around, do everyday activities, or even live on their own.

When these changes occur, your loved one still deserves to have all the comforts of home – and that’s exactly where we’ll care for them. Our service goal is to assist mature adults and individuals with disabilities to maintain their optimum level of functioning to enhance the quality of life and prevent premature placement in a restrictive care environment. We can accomplish this by offering an array of 24/7 non-medical home support services customized for each individual.

We carefully screen our staff with extensive background checks, including motor vehicle record history, social security validation, and diligent reference checks.
